Luc is a first-generation American, husband, gun violence prevention activist, pilot, Ice Cream lover, and proud DC Resident. Luc is working to positively shape his community, advocating for safe neighborhoods and schools, equitable living, access to high-quality healthcare, and supporting our local businesses.
Key Issues & Solutions
Public & Community Safety
Our nation has experienced a dramatic uptick in violent crime over the last few years, and Washington DC is not immune. I will continue to work with all interested parties to implement a comprehensive community safety plan, with the goal of protecting our children, residents, and visitors from inside and outside threats with all available resources in a proactive manner. My plan will include a thorough review of police activity and efficiency in the district, school safety plans, community violence interruption programs, and holding our elected officials publicly accountable. I will work hand-in-hand with partners from local and national activist groups, such as Brady, Community Justice Action Fund, and many others to ensure that members of our community have the support they need and deserve.
Recreation & Green Spaces
I will work to:

Increase the development of green spaces, dog parks, and child-friendly recreation.

Establish community gardens, beehives, and agriculture in partnership with community organizations and small businesses.

Advocate for the development of "green roofs" in the Union Market area, to encourage natural growth and an improved quality of life.
With a dramatic increase in business and local popularity over the last few years, traffic in our district has boomed. With an increase in visitors came an increase in logistical challenges, and our city has failed to keep up. I will work to:

Improve road condition and safety through the installation of smart traffic devices, and street markings, whilst prioritizing pedestrian safety.

Advocate for an increase in ADA crosswalks, including audible and visual indicators.

Increase the ease of access and attractiveness of our public transit by improving street lighting, safety, and passenger walkways, and augmenting WMATA bus routes.
Housing & Development
With the cost of living outpacing wage increases, families are left struggling to pay for rent, groceries, healthcare, and school supplies. I will work to:

Hold landlords and government agencies accountable.

Ensure rental access to lower-income renters.

Promote new affordable housing in the district.

Support the DC Government's efforts to expand access to affordable rental units.

Connect first-time homebuyers to the DC Government's new homebuyer programs.
Investing in the Community
Far too often our government sides with corporate money at the expense of members of our community. In order to create more equitable opportunities for small businesses and employees, I will push for:

Increased public investments in local workforce training, and support for small businesses.

Equitable DC Government personnel hiring.

Promote new apprenticeship opportunities in cooperation with local businesses.
